Vintage 'o' gauge hornby model railway circa 1929

I found these photos a last,someone asked to see some photos i have submitted ,and had publised in magazines.

The first pic was used on the back cover of the "Australian Hornby collector" issue No 119,December 2008

The subject is some of my antique model hornby 'O' gauge trains,these are from the 1920 era,they are tinplate in pristine order,the work,and in
orginal condition,and in there orginal boxes

The Loco is a 4-4-2 (wheel arrangement)L.M.S (london,midland and scotish)railway company,freelance style loco,its 20 volts A.C

and they are just so,so lovely! made in Liverpool,England(the best thing to come out of Liverpool,were the products from the Meccarno factory)

I come from Liverpool, What about me:whistle:
They where made just down the road from where I lived ,and sometimes we would be given rejects when I was a kid:)

Sorry Ron,i forgot about one of the best ametuar astronomers i know,

another great Liverpool product for sure!

I forgot also to say,that i had to reduce the pics twice to get them on,they certainly dont look as good as they do on the glossy magazine in
front of me.

If there is any that would like to see the magazine first hand,i will take

it to astrofest,there is a world of difference between what see on line to what gets printed.

Which brings me to the point that it s hard to give cretique,just looking
at a reduced picture,i think i am guilty of this,sorry Octane.

i hope these are of general interests,i mean we all like our toys,i enjoy
running these,and others on my 'O' gauge lay out

Love model railways....building an N scale one myself. O's a little big for the space I have available:D

Hornby have always built great trains:D

Don't mind the Graham Farrish ones either...and the old Lima trains:D

Had that set when I was a kid. It isn't vintage 1929 - more like vintage 1959. At best 1949. The track and loco are identical to what I had too.

MobilOil tankers like that didn't exist in '29, either.

Yours is definitely a later one - the real loco it is based on was built in 1933.

The comments and link that wavytone provided,re my vintage"O" loco

are inncorrect,the picture in the link is not of the same loco,that is

a Hornby "Royal Scot",it has a tender.Mine is a tank loco,has no tender.

It was made in 1929,-reference-"The Hornby Gauge "O" System,by Chris and Julie Graebe

page 141,also the wavytone states that the loco mine was based on in

real life was not made untill 1933,this is further inncorrect,as my tank loco

was not based on any "true prototype" i.e,its a free lance design

by the manufacturer.

I am most suprised by wavytones reply. i hope this post is not deleated.
