There are a few double conjunctions occurring during August that may be of interest to observers and astrophotographers.

On the 7th, Jupiter and Neptune will be close to the moon. As the moon will be gibbous the dynamic range in this conjunction will be a challenge to test out HDR processing skills.;)

The 18th sees the moon near Venus and Vesta. Yes the moon will be a fine crescent but Vesta will be very dim. Another good challenge for HDR photographers.

Mercury and Saturn will be close to the moon on August 22. This may be the easiest conjunction of the three for novice astrophotographers to have a go. The moon will be a fine crescent again.

Attached are simulations of the conjunctions from Stellarium. Timing has not been optimised. See the event calendar (in the left column <---) for more details.
