Not sure where to post this picture so I'll post it here.

I was in the blue mountains for four days this week, nice dark skies, very little light poloution and no moon either. However the whole thing turned out to be a huge disaster.
On the first night I took my time and nailed the alignment and used the rest of the night to do some visual only, the weather forecast was for clear nights for the entire trip except the last day. Anyway on the second morning I got up to realize that my mount had toppled over in the wind during the night :scared:. My crossbar that I use to mount both the scope and autoguiding scope was all bent out of shape, there doesnt seem to be any damage to the scopes though, although I would have prefered a broken mirror to a broken mount anyday. The mounting plate on the Heq5 was shaken loose in the fall not sure if there is any other damage to it but It's in at bintels getting a service as the backlast is now quite severe, hope the worm is ok.

Anyway the only pictures I have are wide field shots and this is about the best I have so here you go.

I found processing this one quite hard as the sky came out looking really brown, i was doing some timelapse stuff during the day and forgot to select raw as apposed to jpeg so I cant adjust the white balance either.

Hi Sandy, Sorry to hear about your accident. The images are quite good and as for the brown in the wide field image it is quite normal. It is a combination of the intensity of the vast star field and dust and gas present throughout the Milky Way.

Keep at it and I hope all is fixed OK.

That's not good news Sandy. Hope everything is fixed and back to working order soon.

On the other hand, the images you have posted are very nice. Love the star trails.

Bummer about your gear. Lovely star trail image though. The bright sky in it is part of the appeal.

It also shows how little there is in the way of stars at the SCP to help with polar alignment.

Greg.
