It had been a long 5 years+ since I had looked at Saturn through my old Dobi. Despite being only 20 degrees high, seeing our old friend felt great.
Got the NexImage camera out to get a sense of image scale and was very surprised indeed!
Alpha Trimmed Mean in AstraImage works wonders (thanks Anthony!).

Good capture john! Just wait till i'ts higher in a few weeks with good seeing, can't wait!
A neximage hey? That's a celestron CCD isn't it? I've been thinking of getting this camera rather than a toucam. How do you rate it John Are you happy with it, any 'bugs'?

John it's the same as the ToUcam basically. You'll do fine with either.
Nice Saturn John, I can have a go processing it if you'd like? Gives me something to do when it's cloudy here and I can't capture any AVI's of my own

Asimov, as Mike said it appears to be the same as the Toucam. Only new at this, the results you are seeing are 6-8 weeks into my imaging career, and the reason I chose the NexImage over the Toucam was price and simplicity. At only $99US plus the UV/IR filter it's a winner. However, you may want to hold off as I think I have read somewhere that Phillips is bringing out a new Toucam capably of 30fps instead of 10fps?? but not sure.
Mike, go for it, any enhancements you make improves my learning. There is good weather and improved seeing coming your way I think. And yep, re: my latest Mars image, tend to over-process in my attempts to try and bring out the details, so very good feeback, thanks again.

The price for the neximage is $250 au as opposed to $145 for the toucam.....Unless I'm looking in the wrong areas?

Typical U.S. mail order site for the NextImage:

I got mine for $99US plus air shipping so saved lot's of $'s. I noticed recently that Celestron are trying to stop their U.S. dealers from shipping O/S. So it worked out at around $150 Australian, which is a nice saving considering you will also need a UV/IR filter at $50US (I am sure it's a lot more here).

Good start John, tried doing Saturn this morning myself, but image was very degraded. Seeing here was 3/10 last night despite favourable weather forcast.
Keep em coming.
