Tonight with the GSO RC 8" on an EQ6 Pro guided (home made 90mm f/5 with QHY5) and an unmodd'd 1000D; 12 x 5 mins, DSS and a bit of curves and unsharp masking in PS. My first spiral galaxy. In fact, apart from NGC5128, I think it is probably my very first galaxy. Yahoo!!

Very nice - framing/composition needs centering unless that was what you were going for!!
Otherwise pretty bloody good for a bald guy!!!!!
Nice work Peter

Thanks. I framed it that way deliberatekly - I wanted to see if I could induce what looks like an inherent design problem with the Ritchey-Chretien - it gets sthese elliptical halos of light from any bright star that is at the edge of or just outside the frame. And if you look at tis image, you'll see it from the top right corner.

Peter,

Kudos to you. You've got some pretty darn nice detail there in those beautiful arms.

Agree with Doug re: framing, but, I understand you were experimenting.

Well done.

Humayun
