Seeing was good again last night for a short while (before the clouds rolled in).

I'm experimenting with a new processing system, resampling the images to 3x original size before feeding through registax and then downsampling back to the final size. The advantage is that registax can effectively do 1/3 pixel registration, and I can filter the image at the larger size to remove noise etc.

The down side is that it takes hours to do each channel...

Anyhow, here's the red channel, eventually there'll be a colour image to go with it.

Hi Anthony

Nice work, a novel and interesting approach – it certainly appears to work. Pity about the looooong processing times though.

Cheers

Thanks Dennis. This one is on hold for the moment.. guess why??.

Very innovative idea Anthony,

The result for the red channel certainly looks promising.

Thanks Trevor. I was already using 3/2 upsampling in ninox, so 3x upsampling is only 4x slower :-)

Actually its worse than that as I've started using the sigma stacking in registax, so all stacking is done twice.

Red channel looks very promising!

It will be interesting to do a blink comparison between the new processing method and the old one to see if it bears any improvement.
