Orion no scope

Following on with my haapy endings with aquiring capture software for long exposure modded toucams with the higher definition raw colour mods as well, I tried orion.

3 x 10s exposures

There are still hot pixels, no dark frame has been done. I will have to get a little cap for the toucan lens.

Imaging experts, is this where a "flat" is required with the light more pronounced at the bottom of the image.

I am enjoying these!

Hi Davo, nice catch there dude ! I'm no expert Davo but that looks more like light leaking in from somewhere to me mate . If It was Vignetting It would show Its self as illumination around the hold field in a circular pattern I think . I

Here is the progression.

I am wondering if the moon had something to do with it as well, but then i read somewhere to do flats, what until sunrise to get a shot, so that it has that circular shape.

I will go and reread Eddie T flats article, now that i am starting to talk the talk and crawl the crawl and dribble the (inserts asimovs favourite)!

registax raw output -> iris wihich converts to colour -> photoshop with the magic auto colour button -> neat image for noise reomoval.

i must admit the raw format or something is working a bit better. Any image i have taken with exposures greater than 1/25 before raw's, looked shocking with the auto colour or auto contract etc in photoshop. I remember Strikers stunning shots burstinig to life when i used those photoshop actions on the original. Whilst not striker quality, they at least are behaving better to automatic processing!

Don't know about the expert bit, but what you are seeing called a gradient. I can be due to light pollution, the moon, or the sun coming up! Flats will not correct it. Flats are for correcting illumination problems within the optical system.

You need a gradient remover, like Russell Crowman's Gradient Exterminator, or the new ABE from Carlos Milovic.

I am in line with Itchy. The "Flat" will only alleviate the vignetting (and dust motres if there are any) within the optical system. Maybe try one (it can be any flat lit subject like a wall or T shirt), and also try a few darks to get rid of any hot pixels. I would be happy with what you have as well though.
I suspect a slight amount of off focus, but all in all, a ripper.
Point it up when it is real dark.
