2 Hours of Rho IC 4604 Widefield

Hi Guys, while I still intend to capture some more subs on this one when the clouds once again part, I thought I would show you the first part, so to speak. ;)

This image is one of 18 subs, @ 7mins each taken @ 400 ISO with the Tak and canon 5D Modded Camera, with ICNR on, auto guided, and processed in Image Plus, and touched up in PS2.

This image is a full un-cropped widefield, notice the orange rays of Antares, on the right of this image.

Thanks guys, David the Tak is a FSQ-106, and Marc, no mate no spikes on the Tak that is just a fishing line template i put on the front when I choose too.
And Dr Paul, yep always use ICNR, it doubles the image run but I feel it comes out with all the frames at the correct temp.

getting there, unusual for a TAK to display the light from Antares like that ( any reason? dew ? shiny dewcover?) having left the reflector behind and gone to a refractor myself, im glad to see the spikes gone, i feel you can process the stars better without them,

capturing a lot of detail in the dust, you should perservere with Victorias hopeless weather and see if you can add to it.

Thanks Dave and Barb, I agree some clear nights would be good, it has been the worst weather for some time, :sadeyes: I reckon I have been out about only 2 days a month if I'm lucky.

As others have said, this is a beautiful photo of a great area of sky, there's just so much stuff in that region. Photos like this from the more experienced astronomers like yourself and others keep people like me motivated to keep trying so thanks for that.
I see you use Images Plus. I also use it and find it not only great for processing, but simply lots of fun too. Still got a million things to learn there too. I took a photo of Orion along to our astro club night and started out by showing an unprocessed sub in IP, then I just tweaked the digital development and watched the eyes in the room as Orion just seemed to come out of nowhere.

Many thanks Stuart, for your kind remarks, :thumbsup: I still have a lot to learn as I plod along, but it is coming together nicely, and fun in the process. ;)

Have to agree mate, Image Plus is a winner, well at least for some of us, and I can just imaging the eyes pop :eyepop: on the general public when you hit that auto button. :lol:

Keep at it Stuart, you will, and probably are producing great stuff as we speak. ;)
