We had a cold, clear night in Melbourne last night, at least until the clouds rolled in around 10:30 pm.

Managed to capture this sequence of the Trifid Nebula. A little better than my first effort, but still needs more subs, I think.

C8 SCT f/10, Canon 300D, 20 subs total, 10x5min and and 10x3min. Darks applied. Only best 70% subs. Used the Hutech LPR filter for the first time.

Cheers

Tracking looks good but you might have some severe tilt in the camera focus plane from top right to bottom left.

I was aware there was something wrong, but could not put my finger on it. I thought it might be collimation at first. Still not quite sure exactly where the problem is though. Could be some mirror flop or the camera not sitting square in the focuser.

Nice detail in this image Rob, It needs a little work on the colour and either focus or camera alignment but quite a nice capture. A New camera will make some diference.
Well done.

Nice one Rob. Good details and tracking looks good. Imaging at F/10 is not easy. I really recommend getting yourself a Focal Reducer to bring your C8 back to F/6.3. I think it is a must for imaging with an SCT.

Well done.
