Hi
Can someone please tell me what is the best way to find out if there are sunspots or not on a given day?
How long will a sunspot be visiable for?

Or better still, click the picture of the Sun on the left hand column of every IceInSpace page.

The MDI image shows the visible surface features pretty well.
A sunspot can be visible for a few hours throught to a couple of weeks, sometimes even more with very large groups. They change their structure very quickly so every day is different!

I really like Spaceweather.com (http://www.spaceweather.com) You'll get current sunspots and also flares from there, as well as lots of other interesting stuff! Highly recommended. Although no much is happening at the moment.
