G'day all,

I spent a couple of hours out in my observatory last night and decided in the end to capture a few images. This was the unlucky subject!

http://www.rogergroom.com/items/ngc6769_ngc6770_ngc6771_galaxies

Over the last few months the telescopes collimation and polar alignment have become awful.

It was enjoyable taking the shots still though. Autoguiding was perfect when I had it going the right way ... I should have culled some shots which had some slight trailing in DEC :(

I'm not sure if the brightness is right in processing. My new laptop is being quite deceiving with brightness levels I think, so it might be a bit dark for everyone. Oh well! If I don't post it now I'll never get around to it.

:)

Roger.

See Roge lucky I prompted you to get out there, well captured

haven't processed mine yet like you after a hiatus everything didn't want to work the way it should

yes, thanks for that... the "Perth" thread is what got me to open the roof. Ahh well, I suppose proof once again IIS is worth the visits :)

right, yeah, things were quite "off" with my equipment, needs some reasonable tuning. I'm sure my processing was a bit rusty and "lack-luster" too :)

A pleasing galaxy triplet Roger. A little more work fine tuning your rig and you'll be back in business. Thanks for sharing.

They are an interesting grouping those Rog, there are a couple more galaxies nearby too for those with a wider FOV.

Nice

Ah problems, I know them well. At least you managed 3 lovely galaxies and at least saw some sky for a few hours.

Nice work Roger

Despite the difficulties you experienced Roger you have bought out some nice detail in these galaxies. Good to see images at this focal length.

Have you ever wondered if you caught a supernova in any of your ngc images?

I have wondered. I have cought minor planets passing through, that's definite. They can be seen in several shots. One day, when I'm old and gray and have time, I will probably do a comparison to check if I have any SN and to identify the minor planets :)

Thanks, I like the focal length, it's a challenge but can be rewarding :)

:)

Wider FOV, now that would be nice ... where is that ST8 I want, I wonder.

Nice shot, despite the tracking and collimation problems. Good job:thumbsup::D
