Superb series "Moon Machines"

My little brother called tonight and toldme about a fantastic series of shows recorded some time ago that he's now found on YouTube.

Whereas most moon-related TV shows concerned themselves with the mission, the people and the moon, few are dedicated to the development of the machinery itself. This series, simply titled "Moon Machines" has appeared on YouTube and addresses five different machines, and each is broken into 5 or so parts each about 9 minutes long.

I've just watched the Navigation Computer and Spacesuit episode sets. Great stuff - how innovative these people were - even under the deadline and budgetary pressure they were subjected to. The things they were asked to provide...they had to first invent. Ultra-cool.

Kewl ! I watched all of the rover ones as soon as you posted this last night, awesome stuff. There was such a rush of technology in this era.
My kids can't believe what was done 40 years ago.

BTW Chris, I got to sit in a Gemini capsule while it was on display at the science show here in Melbourne in about 1971. This and holding a moon rock in my hand really buggered up my life:lol:

Excellent David :) It's something you remember forever. I, too, had a similar experiance at the Smithsonian in D.C. a few years back when they were allowing visitors to stick their heads inside the Apollo 11 CM. Normally it is shielded from the public behind perspex. It still smelled of cordite. :thumbsup:
