Ac adapter for eq6 pro

i am after a Ac adapter for eq6 pro. can some one tell me where i can get one. this is so i can use the mains power.

As in regulated power supply Les, or just an adaptor for existing supply?

Power supplies range from around $50 at Jaycar/Dick Smith for a 3A job, up to hundreds for more amps and better regulation. You'll probably want to consider if you're ever likely to be powering anything else at 12V and what amps that will take (e.g. dew heaters). I sometimes use a $60 DSE one - they're not really supposed to be used outdoors, so you have to be careful not to get dew and moisture in them or bad for supply and the scope....:scared:

Les, I bought a 5Amp power supply from Dick Smith in Caboolture for about $85 only to find that it was pushing out 14.9 volts DC not 12 - despite their assurances. So I put it in the junk heap and went to Jaycar in Ipswich (where I should have gone in the first place) and bought one that performs as specified and faultlessly. Drives my EQ6 very well.

I've been using a Dick Smith regulated 12V 3A supply for years to power my EQ6 without any issues.

Peter, could I ask you to put a meter across it and let me know what voltage it is actually producing. I don't know what sort of tolerances are built into equipment like our EQ6s but when my meter read 14.9 it seemed too far into a risk zone to be worth it. If your power supply is producing roughly similar voltages, then I obviously have a good stand-by power supply.

I believe that the EQ6 is rated to 15.5volts DC. Your supply was putting out 14.9, was that loaded or unloaded? Still should've been ok.

Just checked - bang on 12.00 VDC. You must have got a dodgy one - is yours a regulated 12 VDC model (M9940)?

It was unloaded. Would that make a difference? I'm just about to go check whether it is a regulated model or not. WIll report back later.

I have just bought an AC/DC adaptor from Jaycar, Catalogue no GH-1379, at a cost of $29.95. The output is DC and rated at 12v, 5 amps, and when I put a voltmeter across it unloaded, it was 12.3 to 12.4 volts. In their catalogue, they also have another item, Cat no MP-3242, which is also 12v DC and 5 amp, but costs $59.95, and you have to supply your own power lead at another $8.95. The guy in the shop couldn't explain what the difference was, except for being twice as expensive. Any ideas or comments anyone?

It turns out the dodgy item was my Dick Smith voltmeter. I changed the battery and tried again and the Dick Smith power supply (same as the one you have) read 11.9 VDC. So voltage effectively bang on. However, when I ran the EQ6 on it for a night, I noticed that the red light on the panel would dim to almost vanishing at the start of a slew an for the first 10 or so seconds. Mayble I also need to have a look at my worm gears or something, but I have switched back to the 5 Amp power supply all the same - which does not exhibit this same pattern.

I have gone for a bit of overkill on my power supply.
I have the 12V 17AH battery pack when away from mains and I have a fully regulated 40A switch mode power supply when power is available, but I also use it to run my Ham radio equipment.
