Last night was my first chance to play with my new toy. A Meade LPI.
I've not used one before, so there was a little bit of trial and error with the capture settings.
I used the auto combine method, which is the default setting, but I can see that to get something special out of this camera, I'll have to save as individual frames so I can pick and choose the images to use for stacking.
The seeing was atrocious last night, so I didn't even bother turning the scope to Jupiter. (the moon looked as if it were belly dancing, imagine how Jupiter was :scared:)
Anyway, this is the pick of the lot. I put it through PaintShopPro8. Applied the "clarify" filter and a touch of USM.

Scope - ed80
Mount - Mini Tower

Like a lava lamp version of Jupiter :(

Have fun with the new kit, I started out with an LPI, it's a slippery slope this imaging thing...

Cheers
Stuart

I usually use the Gstar for my planetary stuff. But I'm too lazy to do the RGB filter thing to get colour.
Thus the LPI.
Hmmm wonder how it would go on bright nebulas? Might point it to Eta Carina tonight, once I get home from work, if it's not raining, if the clouds go away, if the wind dies down, etc etc.
