1. Fix the bug existed in the Time Zone Setting—Problem: Unable to save the data entered by using the scroll-down key. Result: Now the user is able to enter the data by pressing either the scroll-down and scroll-up key.

2. Fix the bug existed in the PAE Function—Problem: Incorrect data calculation occurred when the RA axis of the telescope (AX2) was pointed at a negative angle. Solution: Now the PAE functions properly when the RA axis (AZ2) is pointed at a negative angle.

Does anyone know whether the problems discussed in this (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=46754) thread have been resolved? It would seem as if the update is still version 3.25

Hi everyone,

I am quite pleased with Version 3.25 . The Time Zone setting problem really bothered me. In my case, after entering the Time Zone (for me: -5.0GMT), my controller would register the time zone as +5.0GMT. I have a GPS but the problem arose with or without the GPS.

With this latest bug fix, the Time Zone setting problem has completely disappeared. I wonder if there is more to this bug fix than we are being told.

I think it is shameful that the firmware could be released in such a sorry state. I love my HEQ5 but the firmware has been unstable. These problems should have been addressed a long time ago.

ok, for people with the 325 firmware, and having no illuminated handset, here is why..

the handset settings have changed, and there is a setting on there called LCD backlight that sets the background brightness for the keypad, the default for this is off

Hi Duncan
About this time last year when I had all sorts of problems with the original paddle software I fixed it by upgrading to ver 3.23. My EQ5Pro has since worked fine. Do you think it is worthwhile upgrading to 3.25 or is it a case of
"if it ain't broke - don't fix it.?

Hi Peter

I am running it, and it seems to run fine, it adds some good features, the PC direct mode looks interesting, but more importantly, there are some important fixes for PAE function and pointing accuracy.

Gday

The two things I like in teh new firmware are the ability to dim the polar scope LD (under utilities) - It might have been there before but this is the first I have seen it.

And the PC direct mode now works beautifully with EQMod - no headaches at all just a serial to USB adapter between the handset and the computer. I never got EQMod working properly before without the interface box but it is all good now.
