Post your July entries here.

The topic this month is: Flora

As usual, one entry per person and the image must be your own work.
Normal forum image size applies.

The image doesn't necessarily have to have been taken this month but we do encourage you to go out and enjoy the challenge.

Good luck and good shooting.

:)

Forests and floods, Halls Falls at the Blue Tier Tasmania. Nearby (only a couple of Km's away), Forestry interests are decimating beautiful state forests like this, to feed woodchip mills.

After small deliberation and the fact that I'm heading out west for 2 weeks in the morning, decided to put this image up in the July contest.
Obviously a rain forest shot and believe it or not ... it really captured what it was like to look up through the canopy that morning.

Not strictly this month but an orchid from our garden a couple of months ago, nothing quite that nice out there at the moment.

Hello,

Phew! Almost missed this months comp! Here is a flower taken in the Roma St Gardens, located in the Brisbane city centre. What attracted me was the single prominent bloom, with sunlight striking the petals, showcased against an array smaller, colourful blooms.

Canon 40D, 70-200 F4L zoomed to 187mm.
1/500 sec at F7.1, ISO100.
Taken 28th July 2009.

Thanks for looking!:)

We went to get some fire wood today, and came home via the Hoop Pine

plantations, everyone in the bush here calls this pine tree "funny top Pine"

Its had a grub or bug attack its top growing tip at some stage, its rather

unique,if you look either side you can see other trees, growing normally.

I have been wanting to get a pic of it for ages, and today the sky was nice and blue, with the bonus of the moon .

taken with my canon 450D with 70 to 300mm lens at 70mm,iso 100

Hi All,

First time in ages I've had the opportunity to enter a picture.

Took it while walking back from school 3 days ago.
