Here’s a crop 1:1 of M8 in Ha I did the same night as M16. Full frame is at: http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/M8_Ha_20090703_f.jpg (http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/M8_Ha_20090703_f.jpg) [3MB]
14x10min for the core and inner area + 6x900s for the outer neb in the wider field.
QHY8 Gain 1 Offset 60. Baader Ha 7nm. Celestron Nexstar 130SLT – Guided with PHD/ED80 on G11 – Captured with Neb2.
Got some color data too which I need to process as I’d like to blend it in with this Ha channel later on. :)
Was taken Last wednesday and I reckon I might get a bit of gradient from moon glow so we'll see. Until then I'm happy with this Ha version. Hope you like it too.

Very nice Marc. I am starting to really like this Ha stuff and it fairly adds to an RGB image. If it was mine I think I would be just sharpening this image up a little to make it a bit more contrasty....

Nice work, well done. Look forward to seeing the finished image.

Nice stuff Marc.
As Doug says, I would love to see data like this combined with an RGB image - sure it would look amazing. Still hooked on colour I'm afraid!
Great image

Very nice Marc, the Lagoon looks great in Ha.

Good luck adding the colour, it's tricky but I have faith in you

This turned out very well Marc, very well indeed!!
Just love M8, has lots to see in it, the nebula is so delicate.... plus the little Bok Globs and dark neb columns just seem to add to it.

Your 5"/ combo covers the area extremely well, picking up just how extensive this object is.

Just that coma as mentioned in your M16 post.....
Something to work on???

Look forward to the colour...
Good stuff.

All the best
Rich

Thanks Jase. Yeah it's coming. I got to get some decent colors first from a dark site if possible. :) Otherwise I'll have to use some RGB from my backyard :scared:

Here's my M8 Ha blend - Full frame at: http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/M8_HaLRGB_20090703_f.jpg [5.79MB]

and an experiment with 2h of Sii I got saturday night. As I still don't have Oiii I used a blue channel from RGB data and a RGB star mask which I need to refine when I get some Oiii to finish. So for now that's LHa Rsii GHa and Blue with RGB stars. Full frame at: http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/M8_RGB_NB_f.jpg [2.45MB]
