My Ha Experiment

A while since I posted, I tend to look but not post.
Trying a bit of new gear, plus the weather has been average to awful, and is still like this.
Shot a few frames of M17, after shooting some M16. While woefully short of exposure time I felt it would be an interesting experiment to try a n RGB combined with some Ha. Accordingly I shot 12 x 300 second subs with the QHY8, M703 with AP67 CCD Telecompressor in place, using the Baader 7Nm Ha filter. I needed at least twice as much but this is all I got.
The RGB was with the same equipment, minus of course the Ha filter. 6 x 300 seconds.
I processed them and then produced a JPEG of medium size. One of each, RGB, Ha, HaRGB, HaGB, HaRG, HaRB. I have just realized I need to label them as well, so will do this when my Photoshop savvy son shows me.
No real processing at all, just processed so they all look "similar".

Interesting combinations here Gary. Not sure what you were trying to achieve with this experiment. But like me you are probably suffering extreme withdrawal although I did get one night outside.

"Experiment" is probably the wrong word here Doug, and yes, cabin fever had a fair bit to do with it. More interesting was the differing colours when you combined the respective channels.
Better than watching TV whichever way you look at it.

Move over Hubble and CFHT mapped colour palettes, now introducing the Beal palette (the former two are so old school anyway):D;)

ok the top 2 are recognizable , the Ha RGB should be a lot more red i would have thought.

The rest ......... not quite so ......... well umm....... just a little......err it looks....... like im lost for words.

Cheers team, while not scientific at all, they passed some time, and may have given others the impetus (or not, LOL) to try some Ha and RGB combinations. Especially don't despair if all you have is a one shot colour camera.

I like the purple.

Now you need to do them in the CMYK colour space. :thumbsup:
