I wish to give a large pat on the back for BinTel and their outstanding customer service in the past week.
After picking up my new LX90, over the course of 3 nights of use, I experienced some alignment issues and tracking issues. Both BinTel and myself were aware that Meade was shipping this batch of LX90's with a new version handcontroller with new version firmware. This firmware had been known to have some bugs, but most of which were resolved thanks to the brilliant expertise of BinTel and Andrew Johansen of Melbourne, with no thanks to the Meade Corporation, who should have fully tested their firmware before releasing it to the consumer.
My scope was one of the first in the field in Australia to go out into the field with this new firmware, but unfortunately these small alignment issues arose, so the next day I contacted BinTel.
Fortunately Roger and Don at BinTel were straight onto it and after speaking to Don in Sydney, he offered to send me a complete new LX90, which would contain the previous model handcontroller (and proven, reliable firmware). Unfortunately he did not have one in stock, so a previous model handcontroller alone was express-posted to Melbourne, and expertly calibrated in about 15 minutes by Roger (Not bad for a second choice).
That night I had immediate and perfect alignment and have had no issues since. It must be emphasised that their were no issues with the optics or any mechanical issues, just firmware.
I cannot speak more highly of the customer service I continually receive from BinTel. Their attention to detail and in-depth knowledge of their products is second to none. Their ability to jump on a problem to resolve it is a credit to them both as individuals and as a company.
When people question why I spend a couple of hundred dollars more for a product at BinTel, rather than shopping interstate for a 'cheaper deal', This is the reason!!
hoo roo,
Stephen
