Anyone thought about doing anything special to celebrate Apollo 11 in a fortnight? Seening how the weekend of the 18th-19th falls between the 16th (launch) and 21st (landing), we might have a small gathering on that weekend for a DVD evening. Some suggestions are: "In the Shadow of the Moon", "When We Left Earth", "Apollo 13" or "Failure if Not an Option".

It would be a great time to kick back in the comfort of your lounger with family, friend and a few nibbles and drinks and reflect on what was achieved 40 years ago that week.

Any other suggestions on a good movie or documentary which would be appropriate?

Anyone else thought of doing this?

I suppose I should crack out my (unwatched) Nasa 25 years DVD set. I've just finished reading "First on the Moon", a detailed account of the Apollo 11 spaceflight, it was excellent reading, I managed to find a copy in a second hand bookshop together with Buzz Aldrin's "Return to earth", which was a real eye opener, I hadn't realised how much stress those guys were put under on their return.
