Just trying out my Intes scope and mount

doing the basics at the moment, wow what a learning curve for a EQ mount. Anyway the cloud started to roll in so I decided to give a go at imaging through it before the moon was really clouded over.

one shot with prime focus, the other with a 2times big barlow

yes paul, and i noticed there was some dust and much on the sensors :doh:

I'd say so. The dust marks look way too sharp on your barlowed shot to be on the barlow lenses. Though they don't appear to be on your unbarlowed shot????

i will have to give everything a good , oh no busted, my wife has just woken up. She went to sleep with me in the room, then I SNUCK out setup, stuffed up and packed up , returned to find her migrated to the bed. Oh no she is not happy, whats that dear, oh shut the computer down an go to bed, sure thing dear!!!!

I checked the sensors this morning, I think its on the barlow lens

I know where I'd rather have dust, if I am to have dust..on a Barlow rather than the camera sensor :)

Houghy, nice images, for a first crack.

The dust specks will be on your sensor. They are so small you won't be able to see them properly. I use a isoprene mixture that EXFSO made up for me on a cotton wool bud and a sensor brush to clean off the gunk. This is the bane of the DSLR. The sensor brush will set you back around $160 include can o air, but it is worth it. Do not try to use anything else to clean it, you will only make is worse, I have tried. Other options are a $120 clean by a pentax agent. Its cheaper in the long run to clean it yourself. This problem will continue to harrass you.

just a quick look at it tells me the dust is not on the camera... the first pic i cant see the dust, but on the barlowed i can. nice shots btw! :)

Ving, that dust is definitely on the sensor. I see this all the time with my photography and is the absolute bane of owning a DSLR. Its a real drama if I am shooting something for my art and find I have dust all over the sensor.

You won't see it in the first shot because the image detail is smaller and the areas most affected are in darkness. One way to find out Houghy, go outside with a lens on the camera and take a shot of the sky, even with clouds in it. Download the image, if there are dots on the image, then you have sensor dust, and I am betting you will see heaps.

The thing about dust on the sensor is that it is more apparent at smaller apertures (at least with conventional lenses). e.g at f8 you may not see the dust but at f16 it will be apparent. I believe it's something to do with the angle the light hits the sensor...:camera:
