Gorgeous light just prior to sunset bathes this inviting scene of ferns and ancient, as well as, young trees.

I made this photograph near the beautiful Lake Gunn area in Fiordland, on the south island of New Zealand.

Slightly higher resolution available here (http://users.tpg.com.au/octane2/faf.html).

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
25s f/16.0 at 30.0mm iso100

Comments and critique, as always, are most welcome.

Beautiful scene Humayun. It's a great part of the world. A very nice photo, and I love the "freshness" of it. Was this a 25 sec exposure on AP? Nice DOF.

I like this one - has a softness to it.

Beautiful photo, fern stems really stand out while the background looks like an oil painting.

Chris,

Thank you, Sir. If I remember correctly, I think I set the shutter based on Av and ISO of 400, and then switched to manual, dropped the ISO, and cranked it an extra 2/3rds of a stop.

Mike,

Cheers. I think the softness came in part to how damp this area was. It was rather dewy there, as evening started to fall.

Roger,

Cheers. :)

Leon,

Glad you like it, mate. It is definitely a peaceful place. On the other side of that lush forest is a nice big lake that I had a lot of fun skipping stones on whilst waiting for the light. :)

David,

Thanks. :)

Barbara and David,

Thank you. Yes, that is the exact look and feel I was going for with the background. I had initially ran some HPF for sharpening but decided to drop it as it looked better with a soft feel to it.

Thanks again, everyone, for looking and commenting.

Humayun
