2 hours of Trifid

Managed to get the autoguiding up and running :D so here's an attempt from 30 June of the Trifid nebula.

24x5min subs at ISO 800, 6 darks, uncropped.

This was meant to be larger, thanks Photobucket for editing my image size...

Everything needs tweaking but I'm happy enough with the outcome.

great Shot Justin, i would be happy with that effort (note i would be happy just imaging at the moment). The processing looks ok. was that with the 10" or the Ed80?

Great image Justin ... To me it REALLY looks like im peering into an area of the black sky but can magically see the nebula. Ive not experienced that feel before ... dont know what it is but ive a feeling its all to do with the background ... its colour, the field of view ... it looks and I guess feels very real indeed. All of this has awakened me to the fact that Im not considering this aspect anywhere near enough when I take my images. Well Done !!!!

Thank you all for the positive comments, means I must be getting some of this right after all.

Houghy, it was the 10" at it's native f/5, the ED80 was autoguiding (about time it did more than just tag along for the ride).
I imagine both you and most of the members on this site would rather be imaging now, those clouds are proving to be sticky even up this neck of the woods.

Jeff, I'm pleased my image has moved or inspired you in some way, if an image can do that then it's done it's job.

Almost didn't post this out of laziness, just thought the DSO forum was running a little quite at the moment (damn those clouds...and Moon).
