Hi people,

I had another go at Mars this morning, but the seeing was still very poor. I probably left it too late - set the alarm for 2am but maybe it should have been 1am...

Here's a sample image - this is the red channel only as the green and blue were writeoffs.

This image is from 3.11am, it's a stack of 2000 out of 4500 frames taken at 35fps.

Still a great image Bird despite the seeing. If I could get as good as that when my seeing is great, I'd be pretty stoked! (but I can't cos' of my cheapy camera)

David, I'm still working on finishing parts of it off before I release it. I'll let you know when it's ready :-)

Some of the new stuff is currently implemented only for my camera (16bpp monochrome) and not for the formats that most people would probably want to use - 8bpp monochrome and 24bpp colour. I want to have those working before I release it.

I've been trying, but the other channels are just too noisy. I saw some high haze around at sunset, now I wonder if it was still there at 3am...losing some light would really kill off the green and blue channels, maybe that's what happened.

I think this image is as good as it's going to get. If the weather looks promising tomorow night I'll have another go.

It's a shame you missed the best of the seeing Anthony, I was really looking forward to your image.. it looks like it's going to be a few days before we're clear of jetstream again :(

The red channel image has loads of detail in it though, at least you've salvaged something out of the nights efforts.

Well done!
