Sorry if this has already been covered.

Does anyone have any information on the new 10" GSO Ritchey Chretien scopes?

They are being released very soon and I've been searching for new information with no avail.

Just interested in knowing what new features are included and whether the issues encountered with the 8" version have been resolved.

Thanks. :)

As far as I'm aware not available until the end of July similar too the 8" but will have fans in back for air circulation

Thanks Trevor. :)

The one thing that I would really like to know is whether the baffle tube design is being changed?

I'm hoping that reflections won't be a major issue with the 10" and future scopes.

That was my worry about these scopes. Andrews hasn't been communicative either by all accounts.

Have you ever actually tried calling GSO in Taiwan? They are very responsive if they have something to respond to. I have called them several times with questions about their custom mirrors and was pleased with their attitude. And yes, the people I talked with spoke excellent English! :)

I have emailed direct several times and been through the local supplier on more than one occassion.

I don't think I should have to phone direct to get an answer to simple questions especially when I'm paying a reasonable price for a scope.

I work full time and can't call overseas from work.

I have news from GSO. I have been in fairly constant contact with Jim Sheng from GSO for a number of weeks regarding issues.

First the focusor has been changed to something that is much stronger and capable of holding the camera without flopping.

Second the baffle has been redesigned so that the reflections seen in the second production run is now been eliminated. I have seen some ray trace diagrams but no images of the actual baffle.

The 10" is due very shortly and I would expect that it will be available in 2-3 weeks, from what I have heard from Jim.

All the new GSO RC's will be f8 from now on instead of the current version which is f9. The reducer is very close to completion also and is tipped to impress.

I will try to let you know more as it becomes available for publication.

Paul, I'm pretty positive mine is F/8, and it was the first one bought in Australia... I've done a few shots and matched the FOV in CCD Calc/Starry Night/The Sky... My images show the exact FOV that starry nights indicates the ST10 should give me in a 203mm F/8...

I know the 6" are F/9.. But i'm quite sure the 8" RC's are F/8.

Thanks Paul for the update glad someone gets feedback.

I purchased mine on the understanding its an F/8 if it's not I want my money back

Thanks for the information Paul. I'm glad to hear that GSO are adressing the problems encountered with the first release. :)

Looking forward to getting the 10" when it comes out.

That's excellent news Paul.

I echo Trevor's comments though - you shouldn't have to ring them to get a response. Not replying to someone's EMail is just plain *rude*. Period.

Try getting replies from just about anyone these days. At least GSO can hide behind the language-barrier excuse, but how about the many Australian, American or British suppliers who can't be bothered getting back to you? Why do we have to chase them to give them our cash, or get some support once they have the cash? Good luck emailing Tele Vue for instance. :P

Zaps I've had great response from the likes of Omega, Feathertouch, Moonlite, ADM and yet bad from others.

It's the ones that don't respond that miss out on our business now and in the future.
