Nice image Alan. Interestingly you seem to have the same bar accross the bottom of the image that Peter45? has had in his images and the same hot right bottom corner. Focus looks like it may have been a little soft but you have captured plenty of detail.

Well done.

You definately captured a nice bit of detail. though like hagar said the focus is soft, try using a batinof mask or FWHM output to get better results.

One other thing to try instead of taking 30 x 2 min the poor old dslr isn't extremely sensitive, try 20 * 5 min you will capture alot more detail and a bit more Ha. over all good work.

My general workhorse for the canon dslr is 10 - 20 min per shot though i am still learning i just find that you get a nice amount of data in that slot coupled by many photos your on a winner.

Alan,

That's quite a gorgeous field you've captured there.

The darkened bar down the bottom indicates to me the UV/IR filter is cutting into the sensor, or, if you flat fielded this image, that they may have been less than ideal flats?

In either case, I like what you've presented here.

Humayun

Yep nice image there. With only a UV IR filter I find dropping down to ISO 400 or even ISO 200 and going longer subs is the go. With a LPS type filter one can stay at ISO 800 and go longer

Hi Octane i think you are right about the bar at the bottom i think it is a flats issue will have to look into a better way of taking flats
Brendan just ordered a batinof mask, every time i think i have focus it is just out a touch the eyes arn,t asgood as i think.
Thanks Alan
