Not enough data but i am excited with the result. Hope to add some more data over next few weeks

Object: Lagoon Neb
Main Scope: BD ED120
Guider: Ed80 with Orion SSAG
CCD: QHY8
Filter: Baader Ha 7nm
Data: 5x 15min

For alignment I also tried AlignMaster last night for the first time and quite liked it.

Thanks for the input guys. I gave the processing another go, and hopefully the result would show improvement.

Nice image Sad. I think it could benifit from a bit more exposure time but is well on the way with some lovely detail.

Nicely done Sad, there is a lot of detail there, really quite impressive.

Nice work for a first attempt at producing a Ha image. There's still plenty of data in there that could be extracted. Actually, the data is black clipped so you've lost some details in the shadows. Would suggest having shot at reprocessing it. Keep an eye on the histogram as you work the data over. Hope to see more of your imaging adventures - keep at it.

I can see why you're excited with the results so far.
I'm looking forward to seeing it once you've added more data.

Yes looks great to me... Jase is right (as he usually is!) the black is clipped a little, and there does look to be more data hidden away in there that a little further gentle manipulation should be able to uncover..

Great start to narrowband imaging.. Looking forward to seeing more.

Hi Sad

Jason agrees with me too (:D) it's slightly clipped but I can totally see why you are so excited

Halpha only images are great in my opinion and the first one you take can blow ya socks off.

Your first effort is better than my first Halpha shot...back in the dim dark ages of fumbling in the CCD imaging dark : http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/56900185/original

its a great start, processing comes with time.... even jase is off to processing school soon to learn some more .

So keep up the good work and its nice to see youve retained the detail in the hourglass area, as thats where it blows out first.

I really like that picture. The data could be pushed a bit more but I like the contrast and details in the center of the nebula. Cool stuff.

Thank you for all the comments and feedback :).
A quick question on how to take Ha with OSC Qhy8. I suspect I am doing something wrong. Here are my steps

1. Image taken with Nebulosity in RAW
2. Dark, bias, flat corrected.
3. Color convert all
4. Do the stacking
5. split R,B,G from stacked image and only use R.

I am not sure if i am doing something wrong in step 5. Should I rather keep the Synthetic Lum instead of discarding Green and blue?

You should calibrate first then debayer straight away to red. Then stack the individual reds.
