Hi all

Captured on the 23rd June (local time), this animation represents 3 hours of rotation on Jupiter, as the Great Red Spot (quite a bit paler this year) transits across the face of the gas giant. Also visible, down lower on the NEB, is the new “NEB Upheaval” – a series of new spots and disturbances that are likely to change the look of the NEB for the remainder of the season.

Click the link to see the full 17-frame animation which covers 3 hours of rotation. It’s a 2.4mb gif file.

Also attached are 3 stills from the animation, showing near the start, middle and end of the sequence.

Good one, Mike.

There are some sharper looking frames about halfway through the animation.

Interesting features.

Still haven't opened my Jupiter account for this apparition. Just haven't had a chance what with the weather, the seeing, work and everything else.

Mike, thats a really beautiful animation; amazing. You sure are right about the GRS, it's more like the sort of yellowy orangy soft spot at the moment isnt it.

Thanks for sharing your work, its always a pleasure to see what you are up to.

Thanks for that Mike.
Your images are a real inspiration.
Can't wait till I get my new scope so I can get back into it too.

Good work Mike,

Nice set of images and the animation also looks good.

Not sure whether there will be too many that will look at it that have any idea just how much work goes into a long RGB animation.

Well done
Regards
Trevor

Thanks guys.

Lester, once i've processed each image, it's probably another 2-3 hours of work to create the animation.

But processing the 17 images on their own is the longest part :)

What a great animation and fabulous planetary images.

Amazing what can be done these days with the planets.
