Voip phone disturbs sleep

My single Philips Voip phone I use under Windows, and which compliments my other a land line phones at other times, lately has taken to waking up the family on the odd night by playing a melody and with the display lit up the message "paging" is displayed ???
The only way to prevent this unusual behavior is for me to remove the batteries at night.
Can anyone offer an plausible explanation for this strange thing to happen?

The batteries are fully charged and above the correct voltage.

My provider is Telstra

I am not aware of Telstra providing VoIP services so it will be difficult to explain. Telstra would be the landline service, The VoIP service would through another provider, I use OzTell and Pennytel for cheap calls.

Do you have the Model Number of the phone?

Sorry, the provider I use is Skype.
The phone is the Philips 321 Voip phone.

Skype is like Microsoft, prone to hacker due to it's marketing power. It is possible that someone it sending a paging signal through VoIP to your handset.

Skype does not use standard VoIP protocols as used by nearly all other providers. Skype try to allow external program to manipulate Skype anyway they want. This is usually associated with any free access system. although you may pay for PSTN access the technology allow free calls between each other as a way of marketing their product.

Without the specs info on the handset difficult to know exactly where it is coming from.

I have checked the manual, the base station button is press to page as a handset locator. It shouldn't do anything else I think, also handset to handset paging as well if dual handset.

The technology would need to confirm any other possible features both locally and online that can cause a paging signal on the handset.

Skpe use UDP signal for voice but use Propiory signalling for connections. This is why you cant use Skype with other providers. The signalling I feel may include a way of paging from an online source but need Skype or Philips to confirm it.

Turn off Skype via the computer at night - simple. Just remember to start it up each morning.

Turning Skype off as suggested below is a good idea in isolating the problem. If the problem goes away then that expalin the cause. If the problem goes away then creating a new account could solve it POSSIBLY.

If not then looking at a fault with the unit.
