just finished and hot of the computer, this week provided 2 unexpected clear nights enabling me to finish this one.

Not quite up to the standard of Eddies recent monster, mind you its only a 5 inch scope with a single shot color camera...

Looks very good to me. A larger image would be nice but the dust and brighter objects are well displayed. The star in the small yellow nebula is a variable so check your picture against older ones to see any variation.

Hey Clive, that looks familiar!! :) Unfortunately cloud and a computer glitch cut short the colour gathering session for my slightly wider version last night so you beat me to the punch! Stay tuned though ... I figure with the sydney weather as it is, I'll have it finished around september :sadeyes:

You've captured the detail, beauty & colour of this field really well without overexposing the brights areas - very nice indeed :thumbsup::thumbsup: I'd love to see a larger version though!

Your best image to date in my opinion and one of the best I have seen of this region. Eddies recent image with the 16" RC is amazing for it's detail but your shot showcases the region better, this area needs FOV. You have lots of colour and deliniation between the various nebulous structures, beautiful. Yes a real shame we can't see a bigger version.

It's like you have reinvented yourself mate, give yourself a pat on the back my friend and I expect you will be in Parkes next year :thumbsup:

mike i have had to rethink my imaging strategy, much longer exposures careful selection of objects, it will be 1 image per 4 nights not 4 images per night.

this scope will excell at larger images in the galactic plane, not so much for galaxies.... although i have made arrangements for some collaborative work in that area......

parkes.... i have plans on entering next year.... i have the whole year to prepare this time, and my images are being done with that very specific purpose in mind, i will be looking for the things not usually done on IIS (no etas or M42 type stuff..... not when peter and others put in pinpoint sharp 5000mm FL shots) . the detail in some of those images is unbeatable.

speaking of which YOU have been very quiet about your entries this year !!!! so where are they ?

i had a quick shot at another framing before i realized this was the way to go. time is the key to good images in low brightness objects

you thought i had forgotten you...... went and had a look at other images around, pretty much there in some form on images. it must be thin dust being shone through.. bit like the halo around the sun on a light foggy morning....... (it sounds credible enough) the other bright stars dont show the same...... well spotted.

Working too hard to make a buck (same as everyone else), but still finding time to image. Will be releasing one or two shortly once I can manipulate the RGB data correctly which is causing grief at the moment. Great to see you had a shot at the Malins this year too. Always good to test the waters. I didn't enter the comp this year. Haven't been overly pleased with my output. Maybe next year.

as for the malins, im well outclassed, hopefully this year will see an improvement with the new scope, planning on entering next year, if i could achieve a well done that would be a highlight. Still fun to have a go.

wow ya reckon...... i only once sent images off for a magazine . not in a rush to again though as you dont get any feedback, and im not really interested in supporting their commercial interests.
i do however have a gaze at selected APODS usually through the search engine for a specific target for imaging.
the malins are somewhat different so dont mind that.
