Hi all :)
I added about 60 minutes-worth of subs, in 5 minute increments, to come up with this one that replaces the image in http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=46465
Lookig OK, but would dearly like more time and less noise. Clouds were comng over last night and I COMPLETELY forgot to grab darks! Arghhh!
Oh well - it was only to test the f/6 focal reducer on the 102, which seems to be working well. The image is well degraded at less than 200k - but that's OK.

Hi Chris,
A very nice image mate. Not really knowing all the do's and don'ts of astrophotography,(But will be learning soon!) it is very pleasing to the eye.
Plenty of fine detail in there as well. Hope i can do as good one day.
Cheers,
Duncan:thumbsup:
Clouds, putting an end to your all nighter ;) You sure you were not just ZZZzzz....

LOL! The clouds came and stayed for over an hour - so I packed up. I came out just after moving the previously-aligned tripod inside to grab the battery and stuff and, voila! - it was clear again!

Much better. Why not use the same darks as last time?.

LOL! Not to worry, I have the camera outside cooling down to last night's approximate temp. It's within a degree or two...

Yeah, starting to look real good Chris. More data and you'll be able to push the processing even more.

Nice one Chris. All looking very good. A lot of JPG artifacts in this reduction.
The reducer/flattener makes a big difference to image scale as well as your capture times. I'm sure you'll love it.

Thanks guys :)
Doug - yep - the image suffered horribly with down-scaling. I just wish that we could tag images stored on other sites within a thread....
You can always provide an external link, like a lot of others do, to a higher res version.

LOL! I have my own gallery website Andrew - I just hate (being a human interface designer) the messy approach which forces people to open new windows or tabs. It's not a big point, but it grates on me...
It's personal choice, I don't mind viewing other's work in an external link especially if the 200kb limit really does hamper the image.
I'd prefer just to click on a link and see the higher res version instead.
