Howdy fellow members,
Another mad astronomer that’s just joined, but have been star and space mad for a long time: (I am an old fart)
I started grinding my first parabolic lens in the seventies. I moved away from astronomy for a while but I am back with vengeance, now owning a SkyWatcher 254mm black diamond on an EQ6 Pro mount with a aftermarket MoonLite focuser, Williams FLT98 Apo triplet (one nice scope) on a HEQ5 Pro mount, and a Williams Zenith star 70. To accompany these fine scopes I have a complete set of Vixen LMV eye pieces. This is only a taste of what there is in my collection, but what I really want is a Herald & Bobroff Astroatlas, I am presently borrowing one from the ASSA (Astronomical society of South Australia, Whyalla branch) but that will have to go back soon, and I am enquiring if any of you guys have a copy that you don’t use or willing to pass along to a budding mad star gazer.
I would be more than willing to pay a good price: Any assistance in acquiring a copy any condition, don’t hesitate to email me. Have placed a wanted add also. Here from me later on what I am up to and the direction. PS Still working on my page.

Hi and :welcome: to IIS!

Welcome back to Astronomy - luckily things "up there" haven't really changed much, but down here things have changed a lot, especially with the type of equipment we can now own.

Good luck finding the atlas!

There was some suggestion on cloudynights earlier this year that there is to be another reprint of the H&B astroatlas. I've still got my fingers crossed..

You’re not wrong things have changed, iceman mike, back some thirty years ago one was making their own motor drives, this day and age “GOTO’s” who would have thought, Not to mention optics. Oh my god, what you could only dream about owning thirty years ago is regarded as inferior this day and age.. I can pay homage to that when comparing modern Apo triplet’s to top of the line old stuff.
Just received a copy of Sky Atlas 2000.0 and that should suffice for a mere armature,
If I can’t do some good work with it, herald and bobroff defiantly won’t help, but still would like a copy.
Yea Adam i do have some nice gear, that's fussy flounders for you, No just sold up all my motor racing, and had some $20,000 to play with, but really I need fifty K to have what i would like. I tell my mates they have there $30,000 boats & play things I have the same. here from me later.

Yes I was befriended by Steve Massey from www.myastroshop.com (http://www.myastroshop.com/) and he has steered me straight, with good quality, reasonably priced goods. Thank heavens for us green Astro buddies, for someone like him. When you are so far from astronomy out lets and have to rely on word of mouth and emails to order your goods, I like many spent several thousand on inertia products.
