I am after a mount for widefield DSLR imaging. I have just bought a 300mm lens for my 1000D.
Something that is easy to set up and take down and will allow for longer exposures.
I have an EQ6 and have piggybacked on my ED80 but I am looking for something easier to use.
Does such a creature exist?

Thank

Frank

It does :-)

Another interesting idea with timer:

This is overkill (in terms of price)

This is the best (but again, expensive..)

However, EQ mount is more than excellent for this purpose, but heavy... You should mount only camera without telescope (I did this), to reduce weight.

Also, there are a number of barn-door and other portable mounts build and described on this forum.

You may wish to look at the ADM website, they have a bunch of bits for attaching cameras and lenses to dovetails.

You didn't say if you're on a fixed mount or tripod, obviously different solutions would be needed.

Barndoor mounts would fit your criteria. They can be made by any DIY with scrap timber, plus some hinges and thread.

Thanks for the advice.
There's some great ideas that I will have to follow up.
Will let you know what I can come up with and show some images when it is all sorted.
