this is when paying out all the dollars for the security lights and camera's pays off

the lights frightened these three would be's off

and of course a call to "000" to tell police they were around this area and up to no good

NOT THAT THEY WILL RUSH OUT HERE MIND

but you never know - they may just come across them later this morning doing something else

Wow Geoff, glad the cameras were doing their job.
You didn't confront them did you?

they were out the front and gone before the light went off RB
i didn't rush out - but when i did, they were nowhere to be seen

i frog marched one bloke out a couple of months ago - then i thought later "you idiot", "he could've had a knife or screwdriver on him and you would have been in real trouble"

so i must remember to resist the temptation in the future

I'm interested in your setup.
Can you post which gear and software you use to capture timed web images.
I want to set up something similar.

:)

the software is "Homewatcher" - which is not available anymore

but i have seen similar ones under different names

and the camera is a Jaycar unit that swivels(pans - no tilt) and is attached through a video capture card on my puter and of course has a small 6" monitor
older model they no longer stock - similar to a "swan unit" i think

Geoff,

I thought Terrigal was a nice, quiet town up that way.

Seems there's rotten eggs no matter where you go.

I'm glad the would-be offenders were deterred by your system.

When my family lived in the house above our business, my room was at the back of the house. From my window, I could see downstairs, and into the carpark out the back. I saw many, many people try and break in and/or climb the fence. One time, I saw one of our customers and his six year old son breaking in at 2 in the morning. They only turned around and ran away when they came up stairs and walked into the path of the IR beam of the alarm system which triggered one of the floodlights. The gall of some people. They came back another time at 3 AM and stole a sack of potatoes and a few bags of onions. I rang the police to come and grab them in the act (police station was 2 minute drive down the road) but they didn't make their way until 8 AM. A bit useless by then!

Regards,
Humayun
