Well, i have signed up to my astro shop and received my premier email from them.

Very nicely done, a quick snap shot of specials they are offering, references to AS&T and IIS.

I personally like the approach here.

Info on what is in the sky, nice, quick and to the point. One product special & focus, which is good, not too much in your face.

I think these guys have had a great start. I have not bought anything (star camp being close and all & geoffs theorem).

Proof will being the pudding re any dreaded warranties that may occur, which hopefully they can complete the whole customer experience with the same professional and friendly manner in which they have started with me.

Highly recommended and will be definately in my places to shop along with the likes of Bintel!

Hi Davo...

I totally agree with those sentiments.

A great, easy-to-use website without too much clutter and enough info without overdoing it.

And, I'm very pleased to say the service is great. Ordered a 6ml Vixen eyepiece which was at my place in a day or two, and that included ditching my original order and re-doing.

The eyepiece is a beauty. Lovely contrast and sharp to the edge of view, even through an f5. Was lucky enough to get in some moon observing last night before the storms arrived. Looking forward to mars this weekend.

My advice??? Jump in and order away!!!

Definitely add to your places to shop.

Matt,

where would you place the vixens in price and quality. i not sure of you level of expertise.

I am doing a fairly hefty comparison at the star camp and would be keen for as many different reports as i can get

Dave

Opinion of price is subjective. I think $150 - $200 or thereabouts is a low to mid-range price, but others would probably disagree???

The price on the website is certainly cheaper than other sites I've looked at, and although I'm not as experienced as others at this forum I've looked through good and bad eyepieces and know what I prefer.

And again, that's a subjective position. I'm relating my experience, which so far has been good.

The Vixen LV is a good range. Well made and perform to the extent that a $200 eyepiece performs. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have a 5mm Vixen that I bought about 2 years ago for $300 new. I was quite shocked at the price for the LV line in my astro shop. Very good eyepieces in my opinion. (the 5mm is anyway)
