Now that is nice Guys. When are you coming back up this way. I need some lessons. I love the translucent appearance of the nebula and the edge detail is striking.
I still want to know why your images load up in that nice display box.
This is one to hang on the wall.

Wow – that is a wonderful image of M8! The folds and curtains of nebulosity contribute to an amazing 3D effect when I view this on my monitor.
You’ve done a terrific job in capturing and processing this so very well – top stuff!
Cheers

the curtain edges have a real glowing luminosity about them, as others have said , it gives a 3d effect. good to see someone using lots of hours data to get the detail in an object, nice processing barb
and well done to dave for having to go out in the freezing cold for hours to collect the data.... the unsung hero...... ( i can hear barb saying i need more data :cold:)

We were pleased with the data captured Doug and the many hours spent taking time in processing seemed to have paid off.
Still no idea why our images load differently
Thanks for the comments Duncan appreciate it
Thanks Jeanette glad you liked it
Thanks for looking Rob
Appreciate your comments Dennis.
David spent the time capturing the data and I really enjoyed processing this one
Have you been eavesdropping Clive  the unsung hero spent a very cold night checking on how his data was going while I kept nice and warm inside :) I really like my part in this team effort :D
Thanks mate
We very much appreciate your kind words Ron. We both enjoyed our part in producing this image.

Now that is sweet. Not often do I see images that I cannot find any fault with (including my own) but that is really nice. I love the way you have kept the image from blowing out in the core, the stars are superb, the sky is about the right shade, the detail is sharp and clear. Probably one of the best 9.25 image I have seen of this object. My recommendation is to send it to Celestron, I am sure they would like to put it on their brochures.
Stunning image and beautifully processed.

Unfortunately the EL panel has taken a back step due to more important items but we will definitely be getting one eventually

Paul your praise is very much appreciated
Not sure how to go about sending a copy to Celestron though
By the way your comment on our previous thread regarding lining the obs. You'll be pleased to know that David will complete lining it tomorrow
Sure will help those all nighters when everything gets so damp.

The processing takes hours to do Matthew. Most of the processing tips have come from IIS members which I picked up browsing other threads and some Photoshop tutorials I found on the net.
Thanks for your comments Ric
Nearly missed this one. Good job Barb and David. A spectacular image indeed. The outer reaches of nebulosity appear to be a difficult target from the humble DSLR, typically requiring good data and heavy stretching. Well done.

Beautiful Image David and Barb. May I ask what type of focal reducer you are using? I do not see much indication of vignetting.
Cheers,
Tamtarn
06-07-2009, 05:36 PM
Thanks for the comments Rob
We use a Meade 6.3 focal reducer
We had very little vignetting on this particular image as M8 almost filled the whole frame.
