Centaurus A 2.5 hrs worth of guiding nightmare.
Image composed of 7 X 20 minute exposures captured using QHY8 and Nebulosity2. Dark frames were taken but I had a light leak problem so they weren't used. Guiding is again an issue but working my way through this problem.
Guided with QHY5 and WO 70mm (new toy)(lovely little guide scope).
Camera QHY8 OSC Cooled CCD.
Telescope Vixen VC200L at F9 (1800mm)
Combined with Images Plus and follow up editing in Photoshop CS3.
Image resized using PS CS3 web photo.
Full frame image resized for posting.
Some hot pixels removed with PS clone tool.
Hope you enjoy.
Very very nice Doug!
I love that creamy soft consistency in the background luminosity in these long exposure CCD images....

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.
Anything had to be better than that repro. HATE repro's.
Your favourite bit of sky isn't it Mike?
Glad you like it.
Thanks Clive, The FSQ hasn't arrived as yet. I chased it up yesterday and was assured it would arrive Monday. I hope.
It will be something a bit diferent for me to go out to wide field. Looking forward to the challenge.

Nice work Doug.
Star shapes are pretty good, but I know what you mean about guiding being a problem. I got some more flexure myself that I want to sort out. Dang stuff.
Heaps of detail in your shot, but colour is a little orange for my liking (not that it means anything); I just think more blue would be a little nicer.
Great image Doug
Lots of detail and it shows the dust lanes very nicely.

Those 20 min subs are really working well for you Doug. Good amount of the outer dust lanes. Excellent result
Very nice image indeed Doug.
20 min subs, terrific !!!

Don't you hate it when people run your data over CCDinspector... :)
Sorry couldn't help myself...The FWHM's are a little fat (around 6 arc sec) so the fine detail is simply not there.
More the pity as all the basics are there, guiding, colour and noise well controlled. I'd be paying more attention to focus...though the seeing on the night can easily thwart one's best attempts to nail it.
A good effort

Peter I think I hate you. I was quite happy with this image until you pointed this out and I had a look at it myself. Looks like I will have to spend a little more on focus. I thought it was fairly accurate but looks like not.
Thanks Buddy.
