I have been doing a few widefields lately and here are a couple of results from last night. Both were taken with Canon 400d and 50mm f1.8 lense piggybacked on EQ2 mount unguided
The first shot is single 3 mins at ISO800 f4.0 then simply processed by adjusting levels in PS Elements.
The second shot is 9x2mins at ISO800 f4.0 with darks and flats as appropriate then stacked in DSS then processed almost exactly as the shot above.
The prob I am having is that comparing the 2, the stacking process seems to be acting as a "Colour Killer". When I process a stacked shot I get a either a boring almost black and white shot or one with a very distinct colour cast, yet an unstacked one ends up with pinks, blues and that lovely "fire in the sky" look in the brighter parts of the Milky way.
And yes, I know there is noise and field rotation in the first shot, I am just trying to figure out how to get colour!

Hi Malcolm

After you have stacked your files in DSS go to the Processing Box on the LHS and click on Save picture to file.

Give it a file name and save it then browse in my pictures and find the saved picture file and open it into PS it will have the colour embedded and it's just a matter of processing as you did with your single frame.

Hope this helps
