I got a nice go of imaging Mars last night with the dob. I really like my result, even though its not as nice as alot of yours! :P
I'm getting pretty sick of dob imaging, so I am thinking about getting an EQ6. I've been saving my money, and am currently shopping around looking for prices. Just a general question - does a standard EQ6 (not skyscan) come with the dovetail rail and bracket rings for the scope, or do you need to buy them seperatly to suit your scope?

Hey thats a nice shot there! great stuff, I'm not sure as i got mine second hand, but dovetails plates are available to suit whatever you want to put on the eq6. Mick Pinner is developing a decent range and the Astro shops around carry stock items

I used a 2X Barlow with my 32mm eyepiece. My video camera was used with 8X Optical zoom.

so i assume a fl of 1200 odd for the dob?
1200 / 30 = 40 x 8 x 2 = 600X odd
how long is mars in the field of view without tracking with the 2x barlow?
have you thought of buying asimov heavy duty mount?
It handles his 12.5" newt?

@davidpretorius
Yeah, thats pretty close.
1250 / 32 = 39.0625 x 8 x 2 = 625X
Mars doesn't stay within the field of view very long at all. Maybe 5 seconds or a bit more?
I havn't really read much about asimov's mount. Perhaps I'll go have another read of the thread :)
good try chrissy! :)
go dob power!

The EQ6 use to come with a dovetail but I have just recently heard they are not shipping them with the EQ mounts anymore...this is not confirmed....anyway you would want something better then the standard dovetail...and no you don't get any rings...all purchased separately
