This one was fun to do.
Ten images on the static tripod, 35 seconds each. Four x darks subtracted.
Canon 400D
EFS 18-55mm lens
ISO1600
I turned up the saturation a touch as I was going for something dramatic.
I hope you like it.

The saturation tweak sure made it dramatic (zooming in not so clever, but thats not the point), top work.

Hey Fred, I was Zoomed all the way OUT! That's the widest I can go.
Care to donate a wide angle lens so I can go wider? Say....a Sigma 20mm F1.8?

Love it. The colors really pop out. Never seen it like this before. Very cool

Loads of detail Baz. Dramatic is an understatement. For me the oversaturated look detracts from the image. Almost makes the colours look like NB image.

For me, the colour really brings this image to life. Great work.

Nice one Baz. The colours are certainly detracting, however I guess that's what makes it an interesting image.

Oi Baz, can you get a lens so wide that if you held it above your head it would get the whole sky in 360deg "and" have an image of you below all around the edge..? if so now that would really make Fred puke...unless it was in garish NB colours of course
Ah the Milky Way marvelous huh? no matter what your opinion is on how it came to being

Hmmmm....I wonder what the F ratio of something like that would be....still waiting for someone to donate a Sigma 20mm....
You're right there Mike, it is just such an awesome sight, one that we rarely get to appreciate in our light polluted comfort zones.

I like it Baz. Good thing about astro shots is everyones is different. Even if its the same target there can be so many variations.
If I'm ever down in Canberra you can borrow my 10-22mm lens but its not f1.8 though ;).
