Argo Navis, finally something to complain about

Well not with Argo itself, which is brilliant, but with the manual,
if you print it out.
Problem: critical instructions are printed in red.
At night you shine your red light on it and the red text
disappears into the "white" page, unreadable.
Gary, you have to change that colour.

I noticed this .. to slack to buy another tub of red for the printer
stopped me getting that far though :)

Thanks for the post.

As you can appreciate the red text is used in the Manual to denote
something that appears on the display, which by no coincidence, is also
red.

This was the subject of a somewhat tongue-in-cheek poll on the Argo Navis
User's Group some time back. :)

Hi Qld,

Thanks for the post.

Keep in mind that the first 30-odd pages are all most people ever need.

It takes you all the way from installing a set of batteries in the unit,
through performing the initial first-time-setup, to how to align the unit and
even right through to a tutorial on how to tour galaxies in Fornax.

The remainder of the User Manual is a reference manual that details each
of the commands and provides other information such as how to load
user objects and comet orbital elements, etc. In other words, everything one
possibly would ever like to know about the unit and its various modes of
operation.

We also back it up with email and telephone support as well as participate in
user forums such as this one for those that have additional questions or
who may require additional assistance.

Gary, thanks for the feedback.

In hindsight of course I would print it out in B&W but since there is no warning on the website I think most people would just go ahead and print the 228 pages in colour and find out the hard way.

Appreciate the feedback and we will add some words to that effect. :thumbsup:

From a pure physics point of view, the problem is actually the white paper rather than
the red text. The red text reflects really well under red light. :)
