Captured this one on the 13th with 7 x 10 min subs (with ED100 and 20D) before the clouds rolled in and the moon came up. Was concentrating on the dust lanes below the nebula to see what I could see. :nerd:
I've had a go at processing using curves, levels, colour balance and a little highlight/shadow. Any tips would be appreciated.

Really like the colors on that one. Cool.

Generally a nice image but it could be improved by paying attention to guiding. The stars appear elongated at this size and this would be affecting the sharpness of the image. You need to get the guiding more accurate.
Processing looks pretty good though.

A nice image Kieth. You could crop the uneven edges of the frame before you start processing and you will find it makes life a lot easier when juggling the histogram.
Nice colour but as Paul has said your guiding may be a tad off. Focus and guiding can make or break an image and can make the diference between good and great images.
Keep at it.

Thanks Marc, I think the longer subs allow the colours to be drawn out but the camera isn't modded so the reds are a bit subdued and harder to bring out.
Your right about the elongated stars, Paul. The culprit is most likely a lousy polar alignment and using the guiding to compensate. I've since tried the Alignmaster program and that may help when I'm rushed for time to set up and get something into the camera (oh for an observatory ). Thanks for the advice.
