This is 25 x 2 minutes at ASA800 PHD/guided with a DSI through a home-made 90mm refractor, 200mm Newtonian GSO, 1000D; Nebulosity then DSS then some curves in CS2. I am very new to astrophotography and would welcome comment,
Peter

Nice start Peter!

Details, focus and guiding all look great!

Processing for astro imaging takes some serious time to get a handle on.. Just keep at it.. I think with 25x2mins, there is more data hidden away in there that further processing will reveal..

Great effort mate!
Alex.

Very nice detail there Peter. Try aligning the RGB channels in cs2, ie" histogram, colours and make the different colours align into a bell shape, may take the red tinge out of your image and allow you to bring out some greater detail.

Although, overall I would be pretty pleased!

Supprising depth for only 2 mins subs, everything else looks good. You need to go 5mins soon though, to rise above the same-as.

If you can run 2 min subs with results like that, 5mins should be a cake walk Peter, and with dark skies like yours, the longer you can push your subs the better they will be... Should just give it a fly next time you're set up... fire off a few 5~10 minute subs, see how they come out... Cant hurt to try it...

Wow, the data really was there!

Really great result! AS for pushing the sub's I'm a bit like you, a little nervous, although I don't have very dark skies, I'll be bumping up the time frame for subs

A few Months ago, I probably would never have believed that I can achieve my modest results. There is nothing quite like producing these images yourself.

As long as your having fun, and not getting too cold, just keep pushing the boundaries and listen to what the people on this site say, you pick up some great tips that can make those long frustrating nights a little less so.....

Take it easy;

Great shot and very well done. Far better than anything I produced first off in astrophotography

Very nice image Peter, Not the easiest target to image well.
You have captured a lot of detail and depth for 2 minute exposures.

Well done.
