Is anyone aware of a definitive Hartung List? - I'm contemplating typing one up from my copy of Hartung, but I'm more than happy to not do any work
Thanx

Certainly don't type it...it has been done.
I did it once, however I don't have a complete list to give you. I know there is a list for Astroplanner.
Someone will have a copy, I'll have a hunt as well.

Here is an Excel Spreadsheet of the Hartungs Objects created using Astroplanner.
If you need a different format or some more info, just let me know.
Enjoy.

Some years ago I typed up a list of the Hartung (ver2) DSO's for my Argo Navis. I have attached the txt doc that can also be uploaded straight into the AN. There are many descriptions of objects listed here, but I caution I did add in some of my own notes and popular names that were not part of the original descriptions in Hartungs (vers1 or 2). If it is of use then great. If you want the excel version just let me know.
It may alos still be on the AN yahoo users site under user lists/catalogues, along with many other useful catalogues and databases that many have spent hours compiling.

There is also a list in SkyTools although it is in a proprietary binary format I think?

Thanx All
You've saved me a ton of work - I'll use Pauls list as a starting point and add from the others - I'm hoping to 'match' this up with the Bambos 600 so I'll have a HUGE list of things to look for!!!

No worries.
I have a list of 900+ objects, that I have as the foundation for all my observing.
That includes the Hartungs DSOs, Best of the Night Sky Observers Guide, Herschel 400 and Herschel II lists. Also includes objects from the best of the Argo Navis catalogue.
Cheers.

I combined Paul Kemp's list with Dr. Wolfgang Steinicke's list.
These are the 133 Hartung NGC and IC objects visible in spring, RA 0 to 5.

Here are 932 objects from the Hartungs list in sky safari format.. Its not perfect there are quite a few double stars missing that had symbols for names and a few mistakes but your pretty well good to go. Took me ages to bash it out from the book to sky safari so I lost the plot and never did get around to fixing up a few issues. I had to change the extension to pdf to upload so don't forget to change it back to skylist. Enjoy..

Not sure why but your PDF won't download as compared to Glen's that does. will be a great additional resource.
Thanks

Wes,
Seems to download OK, but you need to change the file type to suit Sky Safari to open it.

I looked at 529 NGC and IC Hartung objects recently with Aladin using a 38' field for most of them. Some of them needed a larger field and many of them are very small planetary nebulae.
