Hi all,

Having captured this rare astronomical event with my camera, I thought I'd better post it! :D The stars of Scorpius are nicely visible in the background.

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shot Stephen. It looks like he is watching the moon rise. Very clever!

Gorgeous photo Stephen - well done! Next time, ask the critter, nicely, if he/she wouldn’t mind posing for the same shot on the branch of a tree!

Cheers

Nice shot Stephen. You would have to put that up with catching the ISS crossing the face of the sun. ;) Where did you find the information of the occultation timing? :D

Giant space Possums!

Nicely caught Stephen, thankfully he didn't deposit a dust bunny from a great height.

A rare event indeed..
This is not likely to occur again within our lifetime is it ?

You have done well to capture it.

Thanks very much everyone!

Paul, the timing of these events is almost impossible to predict due to the highly variable orbit of the possum. Also, the path of totality is very narrow - in fact I could only just fit my camera in it!

Cheers,
Stephen

Looks like he's been snacking on uranium.

Great shot Stephen!!

Ha ha variable orbit of the possum.. 'No possums were hurt in the making of this photo'.

Great Pic Stephen,

I just scanned through the AS&T in the Occultation section and found that this event was only visible from certain parts of Indooroopilly, but sadly nowhere else in Australia...

(congrats on the "pair of crescents" publish in the AS&T by the way! - Well done!)

Its good to see you got Messier 240V in the shot as well. :)

I just had another look at it and thought it quite special that the possum's tail and Scorpius' tail line up quite nicely with the same orientation.

Cracker of a shot, send that one in to AS&T and Spaceweather etc!

Well done

Cheers

Chris

What a beauty Stephen!!!
Bet you were willing that possum not to move, as you set the camera up and pushed the shutter.
