Hey guys, i have been looking around for quite abit and its hard trying to make a decision with not much experience under your belt. At the moment my price range is between 300-400 dollars and as always im looking for the best bang for my buck.

Im currently looking at this:

http://www.telescopes.com/telescopes/dobsonian-telescopes/meadelightbridge8inchtrusstubedobso niandeluxe.cfm

I was recommended this by a friend, but thought ide seek multiple opinions.

Any other recommendation would be awesome.

I'm guessing that site is in the US so price would be US$. Not sure what it is worth here but would be a nice starter scope in my opinion although it would probably require a bit more collimation than a solid tube dob.

That is a US shop and price so I doubt they would sell it to you unless you had a shipping address in the US. Bintel sell them locally for $799 AU.

Edit: Just browsed around the site, they only sell to CONUS and Canada. Meade restricts it's US dealers from selling outside of the USA.

You'll get an 8" collapsible skywatcher brand dob from www.Andrewscom.com.au for $499 - just as good as the Meade many would say.

Any reason why you don't want a solid tube Dob? Personally I would only consider a collapsible or truss type Dob when you go to sizes above 10". The solid tube should also be quite a bit less than a collapsible or truss version.

Trent, that same scope can be had for $499 here: http://www.andrewscom.com.au/site-section-10.htm
That way you can put your $86 savings towards a decent eyepiece.

I'm not affiliated with them, just a big fan of saving money!

Cheers,
