The current AR is showing a definate black sun spot in the Baader White light filter. I also use a Baader Continuum filter to bring out the granulation.
With the ST80 at x60 it's an obvious sun spot. ( Even visible in the 8 x50 finder - also with the Baader film!)
Hopefully this is the beginning of the end!!!

Good stuff it's about time the sunspot cycle started. I think I am going to have to start looking for sunspots just have to find some film.

Had another quick look this afternoon; ST80+Baader Solar filter+continuum...
It now looks like this spot has the potentional to develop into a full blow group! The larger areas are showing Umbra and Penumbra, something we haven't seen for a long time...
Definately worth looking at.

I can't see 'em!
Clouds in the way during the day, and dirt in the way at night...:P
But it's good news! I'm looking forward to seeing blue sky and a spotty red sun (through my PST;)).

OK, 2nd June, ST80+Baader+Continuum. At x50 the structure of this new ( and growing!) group is MUCH more exiciting than any others I've seen in the past 7 months!
There are numerous spots, at least four, Umbra and Penumbra, a lot of plague and extended activity around the group and its easily visible as "spots" on the sun with the 50mm finder (+Baader!)
Weather permitting I'll try to get some images in White light and in Ha.
Keep you posted.
