I was out shooting a couple of cars from the local car club in Fremantle and noticed a storm rolling in, jumpled in the car and nipped up to Trigg where I thought the cell i could see would be close.
I got there too late but noticed this coming in Fremantle's direction
I'm pretty happy with the result though.

Gorgeous pic .... luv lightning (hate thunder), thanks Ben :thumbsup:
Nice Benny!
Closest approach to Perth yesterday was Rockingham(near me): Perth strikes (http://www.gpats.com.au/php/repository/Perth.html)
Most of the activity seemed to be out along Five Fathom Bank behind Rotto: WA Strikes (http://www.gpats.com.au/php/repository/WA.html)
Grab your camera Ben, it's happenin' again!
Look up Wanneroo/Ocean Reef/Yanchep way.

Ben,
Simply spectacular. Wonderful work.
I note that it's a 15 second exposure. Was there much done in post to accentuate particular features or is that just how it came out?
I always anticipate your posts -- every time you post, it's a corker.

That's certainly one of the more spectacular lighting shots I've seen. Several strikes. Love it.

Well after looking at the radar I decided to go chasing some more action tonight, turns out i could have just stayed home, my dad rang me and said it was putting on a nice show outside :shrug::lol:
anyhoo I wasn't as successful as last night, bit disappointing, but we cant have it our way all the time!

After the storm moved away I saw that the moon had a rather colourful halo which made for a nice finish before the camera was packed away..

Thanks Humayun :)
I didn't do too much to the image itself in Photoshop, being just after sunset the colours were all there I just cranked up the contrast & saturation which gave me what you see now ;)
Nice one Ben.
Was a pretty spectacular show down my way.
Sat on the beach with my little point-and-shoot for close to two hours.
Took plenty of CF cards but didn't take spare batteries!
The storm passed directly over the airport, saw many planes going round and round and round....
Here's my noisy effort, I'm limited to 15sec exposures so this is a composite of 3 shots, which seems to blur things a bit. No processing other than the stack... took me long enough to figure how to do that!
There was heaps of activity, why is it that all the best strikes happen when the camera is doing its 15sec ICNR shot?! :(
Dunno how to turn ICNR off, if its possible at all with this camera.
Second shot is a crop of one of the planes going round.... again.
Would have been pretty speccy for the passengers!
Added strike map.
Metro seems to have dodged the storm.
Black lines on map are roughly camera's FOV in first shot.

I knew someone would get some shots over the ocean of last night's storm :) Nice potential in yours, shame the focus is off slightly, but nice display all the same.
[Edit] ... is it focus, I'm not sure, looks a little soft? movement maybe? Unsure.
I tried a few shots at home but the storm was going slightly to the west of us, around the side of our house that I can't photograph when it's raining :(
This is the best I got:

Spectacular shot Benny, just stunning. I love storms, love going outside, shutting my eyes and just feeling the energy (yes I'm nuts but no strikes yet).

Hi Ben,
nice pic! I love lightnings (if nothing else happens )
Jeanette, just a Canon A75 I picked up at the local swap meet for $15 lol, have a 300D too but it's modded so won't focus on infinity... for now, got a baader on the way.
Roger, nah not focus, camera was set to infinity in manual mode... tho case shows taken a few knocks by previous owner so maybe its a little hurt.

Excellent shots, it's almost sparked another interest for me i.e. storm chasing :)
Nah, too lazy for that ;)
