Hi all,

We've had mostly clear skies at 5am for the last 4 days, so I was able to put together a little animation of Jupiter and Neptune as a follow-up to the image I posted the other day.

Each frame is a 1.5 sec exposure with the K100D and 30-300 telephoto at f/5.6 and 800iso, taken 24 hrs apart. The final result is a 100% crop of the area with the 2 planets. There was some thin cloud when I took the second frame, hence the hazy appearance.

Anyway, here it is. Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Excellent work there.
I was amazed at the travel of Jupiter within a 24hr period.

Well done.

Well done again Stephen,

Yet another fine example of astrophotography without a telescope. This is really great stuff, the sort of thing students at school could get involved with.

Top stuff
Regards
Trevor

Thanks very much everyone! This was another fun little project, and I'm quite happy with the result. You're right Trevor, this sort of thing would be a good astronomy project for schools.

I'm planning to try and capture one of the up-coming eclipses of one Jovian moon by another, using the same approach.

Cheers,
Stephen
