Pretty good value from the newsagent at A$ 9.95 including a CD.
Has a regular southern hemisphere section by Glenn Dawes.
The latest edition (April) has images from two IIS members local Mike Sidonio and Emanuele from Florida.

You are lucky to get it I havent seen Sky at Night here for a few months. We dont seem to get every month even thought I have it ordered through the newsagent. The last one I got is March the one with Stairway to Heaven, just found it amongst the mess on my desk but no April ........ yet.

And I agree great value.....

I firmly believe that this is the best all-rounder amateur astronomy mag out. The others could take a lesson from the layout and content. I particularly like the shoot-outs that they put on - and between (usually) five or six competing toys. Very nice, and I buy it every month from our local little newsagent.

yep i get it too, the monthly bbc program is interesting, Patrick must be the oldest presenter on Tv and still has his passion, hope he hangs around for a long time yet.

I used to buy it in the UK, but not here.
I must admit, I did get a bit hacked off by wasted editorial space for things like double page spreads for ads for BBC gardening magazines (?!), and the infamous beer advert that got everyone up in arms, especially since kids might be reading the mag.
The mags here now are S&T (USA) on subscription, and occasionally the S&T Australia.

Rob

Have'nt seen Sky at Night since I moved back to WA. looks like I'll have to order it from the newsagent. I think Patrick has retired, seem to remember seeing something about that a few weeks back. Won't be the same without him, watched it in the UK and got the mag in NSW, somehow Patrick IS Sky at Night :)
Bill
Terrific mag.
The content is excellent and the overall look is very pleasing.
Kudos to those that put it together. Classy and intelligent.

I hope Patrick hasn't retired although he probably deserves some quiet time.

I remember reading someplace that the BBC were going to discontinue Sky at Night. But must have been BS as it seems to be still going. Else the Beeb actually listened to irate viewers/listeners (unlike the ABC, who seem to place emphasis on sport to the exclusion of all else). Long may Patrick continue to inform and educate us.
Bill
Well i am trying to stay away from the newsagents lately last time i went in there i spent $50 just on astro mags :lol::lol:

I like these "shoot-outs" also. Similar to when computer magazines review 6 or 8 LCD monitors, or Wheels compare a handful of similar cars.
We don't get that with some Astronomy magazines. My favorite mags are Sky at Night and S&T (US Version). There's no much in the AS&T, I can't pull from the internet or get from the US version in the first place.

You gotta spend it sometime. Except for my subscription to AS&T I only but Sky at Night.

Hi guys
Just a brief note answering some of the concerns expressed in this thread. I asked the editor of S@N about:
1) Patrick retiring. His answer was:
"Patrick has no plans to retire that I’m aware of – he’s always said he’ll continue as long as he feels he can do the job. Knowing him, I can’t imagine he’d give up voluntarily."
2) The magazine being shutdown by the BBC. His answer:
"The programme team have plans for future months. I can’t predict what will happen in the future but I’ve heard nothing about this whatsoever."
Regards
Glenn
:thumbsup: Thanks for the update Glenn :)

I buy sky at night and as@t each month. I was delighted to see Mike's and Emmanuel's photos in hot shots in this edition when I picked it up yesterday. Congratulations to both of you!
I always enjoy the program on the cd - I love Patrick Moore asking some simple sounding questions that aren't simple with a little twinkle in his eye as he squints through his monocle at some great astronomer.
